Twitch Aquarium Setup Guide

Downloading and installing

  1. Download the latest version of Twitch Aquarium by clicking here
  2. Extract the ZIP file to a safe location on your computer's hard drive
  3. Run Twitch Aquarium to begin setting up the overlay and connecting it to your stream
Note: If you are downloading a newer version of Twitch Aquarium and you have already run setup, there is no need to go through the setup process again.

Connecting to your channel

  1. Enter your OAuth code. You can use the link in the login dialog or click here
  2. Enter the username for the account you used to generate your OAuth code. This is usually your Twitch username
  3. Enter the channel name you wish Twitch Aquarium to join. This is the channel you stream to
Note: If you have a custom bot account for your channel you will need to generate an OAuth code for that account and enter the bot account name in the username field. The channel will be the one you stream to.
Warning!: Make sure your OAuth code is kept private and never shared with others. If you suspect your OAuth code has been compromised, generate a new one immediately.

Adding the overlay to OBS

  1. Add a new source to your scene. Select the 'Window Capture' source type from the list
  2. Name the new source something you will remember like 'Twitch Aquarium'
  3. Double click the new Window Capture source to edit its properties
  4. Use the 'Window' drop down selector to set capture source to the Twitch Aquarium app from the list.
Note: Twitch Aquarium must be running and connected to your channel to complete these steps.

Removing the background

  1. Right click the Window Capture source you just created and select the 'Filters' option
  2. Add an Effect Filter buy clicking the '+' icon and select 'Color Key'
  3. Select 'Custom Color' in the 'Key Color Type' drop down selector. Then enter the HEX value #008040 for the default color
  4. We recommend setting 'Similarity' to 50 and 'Smoothness' to 1. The rest of the settings should be left as default.
Note:If you change the key color in the Twitch Aquarium settings, you will need to enter that color's value instead of the default green.You may need to adjust the Similarity and Smoothness values when changing key color.
